very filled with dreams

me: 24, nyc, works with kids. email: isabelthespy [at] gmail [dot] com. this place: like emails from me to the internet, if the internet were my best friend. feminism. cartoons. poetry. andy samberg. fat acceptance. education issues. working with kids. things that fall under the irritating phrase "social justice issues." books. too many words. profanity. things that are pretty but not twee. stupid internet humor. pop music. non-pop music. pop culture. rants about pop culture. questions i can't answer. love.

i don’t know that i want women to let go of ALL their societally-ingrained uncertainty

quite as much as i wish dudes would fucking get themselves ingrained with some uncertainty of their own. everyone being super confident they are right all the time is a lot scarier to me than everyone being comfortable with not being sure about things (though i guess know — thought about it and realized yep — either is preferable to a world where dudes are the former and ladies are the latter).

(…but is it? do i want white women all confident in their assertions about the lived realities of women of color? which, uh, lots of white women already are? are you seeing what i mean here?)
