microphoneheartbeats asked: Just occurred to me that I only saw your thoughts on Follies up until the intermission. Were there any thoughts/feelings on the last half and/or the show as a whole?

man i’m so bad at ask-boxing. triangularisthepie (whose name is NOT triangularsharpie) asked this a while back too! so consider this your answer also! anyway. it kind of suffered from LOST syndrome, wherein i would have liked it a lot more had it not been for the main characters. like in LOST i would always be like, “FUCK JACK I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU AND KATE WHERE IS SAYID.” in follies i was like, omg love quadrangle of HORRIBLE PEOPLE PLEASE GO AWAY bring back the lady with the tv show, i liked her!!!” it was kind of a shame because the flashbacks were really well-staged and a very cool device/effect, so i was sad that they were filling in a story i just did not care about. it’s hard for me to get over that. ben was just the WORST and everyone else was the second worst and i wanted them all to go away, although “could i leave you” is a great song (but then she doesn’t!).

also i’m sorry but bernadette peters was INEXCUSABLY BAD.
